fire. chevron did not have the data, because when the 200-foot pipe was inspected in 2011 it was checked in 19 locations, the area that ruptured was not checked. >> we did not inspect the individual component that failed, we are now inspecting every individual component. >> reporter: this program has turned up another bad pipe. >> we have found one section that is already out of service. and it is being replaced. >> reporter: they have people who work here that know that those pipes are prone to corrosion. they don't know why nobody acted upon it. that is part of their investigation. dan kerman, kron 4 news. >> chevron also responded to

new allegations that the company deliberately by-passed air monitoring equipment. chevron claims while it is true a pipe was not connected and emissions went out unmonitored for several years it was not done on purpose. >> i take exception to somebody questions the intent on safety. as soon as we knew about the issue we addressed it. what we need to establish as part of our investigation is why that wasn't identified earlier and that is still ongoing. >> they maintain the amount that was flared during this period was so small it was not a health concerned. government investigations are underway. a santa clara elementary school principal accused of selling drugs, eric dean lewis

was arraigned on charges. the principal was arrested on friday after a sting operation. authorities say eric dean lewis offered the investigator methmeth and the date -- methamphetamine. kron 4's maureen kelly was there. >> reporter: he is in front of a judge monday because he was arrested friday after investigators say he offered to furnish an offer with methamphetamine. that agent made contact through a dating website. after his arrest authorities searched his san francisco apartment and say they found a lot of drugs. >> quarter ounce of methamphetamine. 7 pills of mdma and 3-4 vials

of ghp. >> reporter: that led to the additional charge of drugs for sale. computers were also seized at his office at montague elementary school but the district attorney says the investigation is still on going. at this time there is nothing to indicate he tried to sell drugs to students. authorities plan to examine any money put towards setting him free to make sure it doesn't come from drug sources. maureen kelly, kron 4 news. >> at this time there have been no allegations of eric dean lewis engaging in illegal activity in connection with the school. he was put on paid administrative leave. >> it is a life lessen for the kids -- lessen for the kids.
